Carfentanil or Carfentanyl (Wildnil) is an analogue of the popular synthetic opioid analgesic fentanyl, and is one of the most potent opioid known (also the most potent opioid used commercially). Carfentanil is a monocarboxylic acid amide resulting from the formal condensation of the aryl amino group of methyl 4-anilino-1-(2-phenylethyl)piperidine-4-carboxylate with propanoic acid. It has a role as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, an opioid analgesic and a tranquilizing drug. It is a member of piperidines, a methyl ester, a tertiary amino compound and a tertiary carboxamide.
